Worship Reopening Update (November 2021)

Rules for in the building worship:

1. Congregational Singing is once again back in place: The congregation will once again be invited to join in congregational singing. We ask that worship attendees remain in masks but we look forward to once again hearing your voices in our praise back to God.

2. The restrooms are once again open: Please note that all restrooms in the building ARE once again open for use. Please spread the word!

3. Our nursery is open again: Our nursery is fully open and back in the normal location. We hav Dylan Schmidt and Taylor Neis ready to care for your little ones during worship service if you would like to utilize their services. Children 5 and under are welcome to join while you enjoy worship time.

4. Office Hours: Beginning November 29, our administrative assistant Dean Manwaring will be working in person in the office from 9:00 a.m.-Noon and 1:00-3:00 pm Monday-Friday.  Any visitors to the office are asked to please wear a mask.

5. In-Person Meetings Once Again Allowed: While the AdCo will continue to meet virtually for the time being other ministry groups of the church are allowed to resume in-person meetings in the church. Please make sure to schedule with Dean through the church office so we are aware of who is using the building.

6. Sunday School: Sunday School for ages Preschool-12th grade is once again back in operation from 9:45-10:15 am.

7. Indoor Fellowship Has Resumed: We are once again gathering for a time of food and fellowship inside of the building. We appreciate those who are assisting in providing pre-packed snacks. 

 Soon but not YET: Church leadership will continue to evaluate recommended guidelines through the CDC and our local county health department. While we are not quite ready to resume passing the offering plate, indoor fellowship time, and shaking of hands during passing of the peace" we will still encourage creative ways for you to engage in these important practices. We thank you for your patience and please know EVERY decision we make is keeping the safety of each of you in mind! 

Guidelines for Drive-in 9:00 am Worship:

• As you drive into the church parking lot, please check in with the greeter standing on the porch.

• In addition to taking note of attendance, Greeters will have the following items: extra masks, a few worship bulletins, pre-packaged communion supplies (on Communion Sunday), a notebook to write down any joys or concerns, and a collection box (to collect any offering).

• An Usher will direct you to your seat.

• Please maintain 6' distance.

• If exiting your vehicle, please wear a mask.

● Radio transmission of service is available by tuning the radio in your vehicle to 88.7 FM.

Stay at home request: Please stay home if you or a member of your household are experiencing or have been experiencing the following symptoms such as cough, fever of 100.4 or higher, sore throat, shortness of breath or other illness within the past 14 days, have been exposed to or are residing with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days, traveled out of the country or to “hot spots,” or you are at a higher risk for severe illness.

                                                   January Sermon Information

January 2: “Cling To The Light"

Scripture: John 1:1-5, 10-18. This week can be seen as a continuation of last week; the Christmastide is that desire to hold on to the hope of Christmas. Only this week, we go from a position of strength and not of loss. Light is a dominant image this week. Consider how you will share or offer the light of Christ in this New Year? On this Second Sunday of Christmas we are invited to "Cling to the Light" as we recommit our lives back to Christ in this New Year.  Join Pastor Ross as we focus back on the light while also reflecting on where we have been this last year in our walk with the Lord as we look to where Christ might lead us in this New Year. As we head into Epiphany, where light is also central, we go with confidence, surrounded by the light behind us, around us and within us. But perhaps most importantly, coming from us. How will we cling to the Light while also letting our light shine brightly for all to see? 

"Reset" sermon series January 9-30 

God’s mercies are new every morning! But sometimes it is easy for us to get stuck in the same old routine. This New Year let’s hit the “reset button,” so we can claim the fresh start God makes available to us. As we rediscover our true identity in the love of God, we will discover new purpose and, guided by the compass of God’s values, head off in an exciting God-given direction!

January 9: “Soul Reset"

Scripture: Luke 3:15-17, 21-23. Resetting your soul begins with remembering who you are. In baptism, God calls us beloved.  

January 16: “Reset Purpose"

Scripture: Mark 1:32-39. Spending time with God enables us to start our year with intention. Centered living comes from understanding God’s purpose in this season.

January 23: “Reset Values"

Scripture: Galatians 5:24-6:10. What does it mean to live by God’s Spirit and not our own? To live according to God’s values and not those of the world?

January 30: “Reset Direction"

Scripture: Acts 9 1-15. Whether we’ve been in the church for a long time or are exploring the faith, Jesus sometimes calls us to move in a new direction, even when we think we are already heading in the right direction.

Eudora United Methodist Church is a growing congregation with a wonderful mix of newer attending younger singles/families and older adults that have been part of the church's rich history.   We're a mission and service-oriented church that is constantly striving to grow in understanding God's love for us and in our response of sharing that love with others.  We experience and share the presence of God's spirit in an intentionally blended music worship on Sunday mornings and in a variety of Spiritual Formation opportunities for all ages.  Various Fellowship Groups also bring the congregation together for fun activities that meet through the  year.
