All Church Charge Conference this Sunday, December 4 @ 5:00pm

All EUMC families are invited to join clergy and laity of our Network at Lawrence 1st UMC – West Campus (867 Hwy 40, Lawrence, KS 66049) this upcoming Sunday for our Annual Charge Conference. We will gather with our District Superintendent, Rev. Micki McCorkle, for a time celebrating in the mission and ministries of our churches, having a final approval of a few charge conference forms, and “Breaking Bread Together” in Holy Communion. This will not only be a great opportunity to meet our D.S., it will also be a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with other local United Methodist Churches in our District. All are welcome!

Handbells & Chancel Choir are Back…and NOT for a Limited Time!

We are going to start rehearsals on Thursday, December 1. Handbells at 6:30pm and Chancel Choir at 7:30pm. Even if it’s been a while since you have rung or sung, please give it another try…no judgment from anyone! It won’t be the same for Christmas without the handbells and choir–WE NEED ALL HANDS AND VOICES to help celebrate the season!

Angel Tree Ornaments

The Mission Tree at the back of the sanctuary has ornaments with some of the greatest needs of the Eudora Schools. Please take an ornament and bring your gift to church and put it under the tree. Your gift should NOT be wrapped. We will do this throughout the month of December.

Poinsettia Orders

We will be ordering poinsettias again this year. If you would like to order one, they are $7.00 and will be available for you take home after the Christmas Day service. You may place your check in the offering plate with “Poinsettias” on the memo line, or see Connie Meyers, or sign the clipboard at the back of the sanctuary. Payment must be made before December 23. We can only get 12 red and 12 pink this year. You may pick out your color choice at the altar when you pick up your flower. If you want to dedicate your flower in honor of or in memory of someone, please contact either Dean in the office or Connie Meyers.

Short-term Advent Study with Pastor Ross – CHANGE OF DATE

Pastor Ross will once again be offering a short-term Advent Bible Study begging the week of November 28. “Almost Christmas: An Advent Wesleyan Study” by Magrey deVega, Ingrid McIntyre, April Casperson, and Matt Rawle.

“In 1741, John Wesley preached his famous sermon titled “The Almost Christian” in which he encouraged people to follow Christ wholeheartedly. We should not be satisfied with being almost Christian but rather strive towards being altogether Christian. In Almost Christmas: A Wesleyan Advent Experience, author and pastor Magrey deVega leads a group of authors to explore how we can make the same commitment to Christ during Advent, connecting our Wesleyan heritage with the traditional Advent themes of Love, Hope, Joy, and Peace. In this book, perfect for Advent, deVega and the other authors break down the barriers that prevent us from experiencing an “altogether” love, hope, joy, and peace in Christ in our lives and in the world around us. They demonstrate the promises God offers us that makes those longings a reality, inviting us to claim those promises for ourselves this Advent and celebrate an altogether Christmas.”

Our Bible study will meet by Zoom from 7:00-8:00pm on Tuesday evenings. This is a slight change from the initial plan of meeting on Thursday evenings, which was a conflict with Handbells and Chancel Choir rehearsals.
