"You Are Not Lacking" Rev. Ross Baker (audio)
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9
"Greetings!" There is so much in the words we use when saying hello that we often overlook the complexity. We can, for example, know when someone is genuinely glad to see us or when our appearance is a burden. The introduction to the first letter to the Corinthians is no less full of meaning. While on the one hand this is a very standard greeting for Paul, at the same time, Paul is already seeking to establish himself in a church a community that is already divided. He is an apostle, someone called by God, to come and remind this community that they too are gifted, and with God's help, able to reclaim their gifts in the life and mission of the church. How might Paul be speaking not only to the people of Corinth but to us as well?
